Spain is aiming to win its last two Euro 2024 qualifying matches. If they succeed in doing so, they will most likely finish first in their group and be placed in Pot 1 for the tournament’s draw the following summer. Their pursuit of this has gotten off to a flawless start as they defeated Cyprus early on.
Lamine Yamal, who was starting for the second time in his international career, was one of the numerous changes made by Luis de la Fuente from the team that defeated Norway in October. He is the one who gave La Roja a fantastic start by scoring in the first five minutes.
It’s a beautiful objective for Spain. Joselu Mato failed to capitalise on Mikel Merino’s centre, but Lamine Yamal calmly sidestepped the Cypriot custodian and fired into the back of the net.
Spain will believe they can score six today, having done so against Cyprus back in September.
