Barcelona has entered the competition to sign Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle.
With 21 goals in all competitions this season, the star striker is having an amazing season for the Magpies.
Just three goals separate Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland at the top of the scoring chart with 20 goals apiece, with 17 of those goals coming in the Premier League.
He had a big impression at Newcastle after arriving in 2022 for a £60 million cost. In 64 games, he has scored 31 goals and assisted four more.
Spurs and Arsenal are among the elite teams in the league that have expressed interest in him as a result of his outstanding performances.
Additionally, Barcelona is reportedly currently considering a move for him.
Barcelona desires Isak to take Lewandowski’s spot.
The Sun claims that the La Liga powerhouses have determined that Isak is the best option to take Robert Lewandowski’s position.
And because the Magpies must balance the books to comply with financial requirements, the Catalan-based club thinks they could be obliged to sell him.
Barcelona has reportedly been watching him since Christmas, according to the report’s source, and they believe he can spearhead their assault for the next three to four years.
It goes on to say that the athlete will find it difficult to reject a move to Barcelona.
Paying Alexander Isak will be expensive.
Isak is thought to cost prospective bidders over £90 million, although the Catalan powerhouses would be willing to try and work out a deal with the Magpies.
Though maybe there can be some haggling considering Newcastle’s desperation to move him.
But it’s unclear if Barcelona can afford to pay that much on a player given their own financial difficulties.
