Barcelona shockingly open to selling one of their best players this summer

Barcelona is planning a summer roster overhaul and will be buying and selling players with the goal of improving their financial position.

The club is no longer confident in Ronald Araujo’s abilities, especially in light of Pau Cubarsi’s rise, and MARCA has stated that Araujo may be one of those on the way out as summer approaches.

The market worth of the 25-year-old center defender is €70 million, and Bayern Munich is interested in signing him. However, the Blaugrana may demand more.

Araujo hasn’t performed up to Barcelona’s expectations lately.
Araujo has regrettably failed to live up to the extremely high expectations at a team like Barcelona, particularly since the beginning of 2024.

He was shown a red card against Real Madrid at the beginning of the season, and his fury finally got the better of him in the Spanish Super Cup final.

The consequences of that ban were not as severe since, while Xavi’s team was already three goals behind Los Blancos, the Uruguayan had not made significant progress since then.

A similar error cruelly affected the team’s destiny against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarterfinal a few weeks prior.

Araujo was sent once more, this time for a careless challenge on Bradley Barcola, even though Barça was controlling the game and performing rather effectively.

After that, the squad absolutely collapsed, and PSG made the most of having an additional man to deny the Catalans a sixth Champions League title.

Doubts increase.
Araujo is still regarded by Xavi Hernandez as one of his greatest players, and Hernandez wants to keep him with the team despite the issues.

But some members of the Barcelona board are worried about his previous mistakes in crucial games and are pushing for a transfer.

The team is awaiting a response from the defender over a contract offer that was made to him. Should negotiations fail, the Uruguayan may be let go.

It remains to be known if Pau Cubarsi will play for Barcelona next season, but in related news, the Culers will welcome the news that he will be extending his contract with the team.
