Barcelona focusing on deal to sign Spanish midfield prodigy

Barcelona was on the verge of making Guido Rodriguez their first significant summer acquisition only a few weeks ago.

The Real Betis midfielder’s current contract expires at the end of June, and he was expected to sign with the team on a free transfer.

Though the German had reportedly given Barça the go-ahead to pursue the Argentine, Barcelona’s attempt to sign Rodriguez has stagnated since Hansi Flick was appointed.

According to recent sources, Barcelona and Rodriguez’s agreed-upon contract ended on May 31. As a result, the team has to reach a new agreement with the player, who is amenable to discussions with other teams.

Barcelona turns its attention to Javi Guerra.
A new report from MARCA indicates that Barcelona has turned its attention to other options amidst the uncertainty surrounding the club’s pursuit of Guido Rodriguez.

In particular, Barcelona is hoping to get Javi Guerra. The young player from Valencia has recently been a key target for the Catalans as they aim to bolster their midfield depth.

It seems that Barça would like to have a player with Gavi’s kind of profile. Javi Guerra enters the battle at this point.

Because of his increased agility, the Spaniard will be able to provide more technique in the center of the park. Conversely, Guido Rodriguez is more akin to Andreas Christensen, who was a strong and aggressive defensive midfield player.

Can Barça take the victory?
However, Barcelona will face significant difficulties in landing Javi Guerra since they are now again mired in a recession.

To determine their prospective expenditure cap and FFP margins, the Catalans are awaiting a final call from La Liga.

According to the article, Guerra is anticipated to cost between €20 and €25 million. Interestingly, Valencia is considering making a bid for Vitor Roque, the offensive misfit from Barcelona, even if there is no connection between the two operations.
