Barcelona face fresh blow in pursuit of €80 million-rated speedster

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia might not have been able to achieve the same heights this season after nearly single-handedly leading Napoli to a Serie A championship the previous season.

Despite this, he is still a highly sought-after talent in European football; this season, the forward has contributed 19 goals across all competitions.

Kvaratskhelia’s deal with Napoli expires in2027, although given the team’s mid-table standing, many predict the attacker will go in the upcoming summer.

Barcelona is one of the teams closely monitoring Kvaratskhelia’s circumstances at Napoli, who are also in a hurry to sign the midfielder to a long-term deal.

Barcelona’s pivotal week
In terms of Barcelona’s pursuit of Kvaratskhelia, the upcoming week may be critical, according to a recent report from Gazzetta Dello Sport.

This is because negotiations on a new contract between his agent and Aurelio de Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, are scheduled. In an attempt to convince Napoli to offer Barcelona a lucrative deal, the agent is probably going to mention Barcelona’s interest.

Kvaratskhelia makes limited requests. He is prepared to continue at Napoli, but given the club’s difficulties this season, he demands the pay of a top player and would not accept anything less.

Kvaratskhelia wants to use the possibility that he has an offer from Barcelona to pressure de Laurentiis into making a reasonable deal.

What prospects does Barcelona have?
The article does make clear that Kvaratskhelia’s expectations for a €5 million salary are beyond what Napoli can afford. Despite Victor Osimhen’s impending departure from the team, President de Laurentiis is still desperate to cling onto the player.

Napoli will so continue their negotiations with Kvaratskhelia. As a matter of fact, one of de Laurentiis’ main goals is to include a large release clause in the attacker’s contract, maybe worth between €100 and €120 million.

In other words, Kvaratskhelia is not going anywhere, and unless Barcelona makes a ridiculous offer, de Laurentiis won’t even consider the possibility of selling the Georgian star this summer.
