Barcelona eye former La Masia superstar for summer, player ‘crazy’ to return

The dependable Jose Alvarez has claims that the Blaugranas are thinking about loaning the former La Masia star, Xavi Simons, back. The club board is really in the process of formulating a way to facilitate the move.

In the club’s academy, the Dutch sensation was held in high regard and predicted to become a major player in the future.

But Barcelona did not fully commit to his extension in order to appease him, nor did they promise him playing time in the starting lineup as the player had requested. The player was later lost by the team to PSG in 2019.

Simons, who is 21 years old, is now thriving at RB Leipzig under Marco Rose. He has started 30 Bundesliga games for the team.

He has given the German team 11 assists and a whopping seven goals in that time.

Simons is a strong player down the left flank who completely fits the need that Xavi perceives in his team, making him an alluring alternative for the team to take into consideration in June.

Simons’ position about a possible comeback to Barcelona
Simons’ affection for Barcelona remains unwavering, even after parting ways with his boyhood club on amicable terms. In fact, the Spanish journalist reports that the young man is “crazy” about returning home.

The fact that Simons is still legally obligated to PSG after the French giants exercised their option to purchase him back from PSV Eindhoven for €6 million last summer is the sole roadblock in the negotiations.

This summer is his loan period in Germany, although he will rejoin Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s team shortly after.

Given how many young wingers the French giants have in their lineup, negotiating with them will be challenging but not impossible.
