Xavi pressing hard for Barcelona to sign Manchester City duo

Barcelona will have some breathing room on the Financial Fair Play front to bolster their roster as a result of Ousmane Dembele’s impending departure.

Additionally, according to a report from Javi Miguel, Barça manager Xavi Hernandez is exerting significant pressure on the team to sign Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo from Manchester City.

Bernardo Silva is Xavi’s top target.
Bernardo Silva is the midfielder that Xavi is most interested in signing because he can improve the team’s creative profile and add more quality.

The 28-year-old is reportedly dreaming of joining the La Liga champions and is still open to the idea of leaving Manchester City.

PSG had also expressed interest in signing Silva, but they have since dropped out of the running, which is good news for Barça.

Given how crucial he is to Pep Guardiola’s system, Man City won’t make it simple for him to leave. In order to ensure his continued employment at the club, they are already pressuring the Portuguese international to sign a new contract.

If the player makes an effort to leave, it might give Barcelona more time to bargain.

the right-back’s top pick for the target

Xavi’s preferred choice is Cancelo.
Ivan Fresneda’s pursuit by the club is progressing, but Cancelo, a 29-year-old right-back, remains the manager’s top choice for the position.

In fact, Xavi has requested that Barça put an end to their pursuit of the Real Valladolid teenager in favour of one final effort to sign Cancelo, which may be feasible now that Dembele is leaving.

The manager is leaning towards Cancelo over Fresneda, who has no experience in European football, because he wants to bring in players who can perform at the highest level right away and not take time.

In his post-game press conference, Xavi also mentioned that he wants a “pure” right-back now that Dembele is leaving, which only serves to fuel his desire to sign the outcast from Manchester City.

The margin that Dembele’s departure will produce and the demands Manchester City make will both be important factors.
